To all:
It never ceases to amaze me how interested people are in breechclouts!! Linda emailed me about clouts, so I measured mine and emailed back....but,there are no exact measurements....I once had a blue, shorter one which I didn't like cause it was too short, I like mine to peek out from under my long shirt in the back...so, my clout is 12 inches wide and 5 1/2 feet long (my height is 5'10"..I had never heard about using your height as the height of the clout...but that's about right).....mine is dark gray wool, just a piece I grabbed 15 years ago ..no special reason....There is no decoration on it, although I have a red wool one with some fur attached at the bottom which I rarely wear!! My gray one has frayed a bit over the years, but it is not hemmed...and washing wool to tighten it up is called "felting". So, that's that!! Good clouting!!

pax Aye!
