They've brought in the Cherokee

This morning the papers reported that the Western Band Cherokee had joined the fight. It is cloudy in Morganton, and the air is filled with smoke even here. When I walked out to my car after work, there were bits of ash and tiny pieces of charred wood on it. I haven't turned on TV or heard any report, but we are all hoping for rain from those clouds overhead---preferably heavy rain.
