: Gladiator ... I really, really love this film. Very well made. I assume you've seen "The Insider" already? Michael Mann/Russell Crowe do make quite a team.

: As for "The Patriot" ... no, not a 'great' film but I liked it.

Hi Elaine!
I'd forgotten that MM and RC had done "Insider"--will have to rent it...

The Amazon auction was well done because they had good close-up pictures and commentary from the costume designers. On the emperor's robe, the designer said she was evoking roman statuary with the white, molded look. A lot of the costumes used foam inserts, and that robe was miles and miles of fabric. I think it went for about 20,000 bucks. Lots of the swords and shields were under a thousand, but they were all plastic painted to look like wood or metal!

Don't know why they sold all this stuff off, maybe this is something new the studios are doing to recoup costs?

Claudia
