: Well, originally my father and I had planned to head over to Scotland for Christmas (this being the first holiday after mom's passing and REALLY not wanting to be here at home, as you can imagine...) but exorbitant fares being asked us by the airlines, we were left bereft of ideas. And then yours truly thought...where would SHE like to be on Christmas morning? Hmmm...what could be better than MOUNTAINS?? So guess where we're going? ASHEVILLE. With jaunts to the surrounding countryside. Tried to book a place at the Grove Park (is that the correct name...sorry...caffeine deficit...) but ended up at the Renaissance (???) Does anyone know about this hotel? And anyone have any suggestions of what to check out, besides the obvious? I'm hoping to check out some live music and do some shopping. Any suggestions would be mucho appreciated.

: Jingle bells, jingle bells, up on Chimney Rock...

: yers with bells on,
: Christina/Red

Save up that Scotland money, honey and I'll go wi'ya! I've been threatening Kate for some time now ;-)

But what a great alternative. I'll be in Hickory (close to MohicanLand) and plan TRYING to find a day to do the Biltmore House at Christmas. It's supposed to be unbelievably decorated and festive...and all! It too can be a little pricey, but well worth it I hear.
