Okay, Rich. I've been sitting here trying to decide how to respond to your post, and I'm still not sure I have a good response, but here goes.
First, I'll make it public knowledge that I'M the one who responded to the survey by saying they weren't a big LOTM fan. Yes, that's right, heresay! But I happen to be married to a fan, which is how I stumbled here in the first place. I found this site while looking for a Christmas present last year for BT. I was absolutely sick of going to the BRP and listening to him say "I wonder where this was shot, I wonder where that was shot." Your book made my trips to the Parkway much more enjoyable by answering all those questions.
Next came the gathering. For BT it was a dream come true. He hiked and I relaxed, which was what each of us needed. We met people, that if we should never see them again, will be burned in our hearts forever.
So now, instead of being Mr. GQ, with the suit and tie headed out the door to work every morning, I have a fledgling longhunter that kisses me goodbye. Mr. "Don't let the hair down over the collar" is now sporting a pony tail and dangling earings. I have a fire pit in my back yard, and am now being faced with the challenge of cooking outside during freezing weather. That's not to mention how many nights we've eaten at 11:00 pm because we've had to wait for the fire to get started with one of Clabert's kits (thank God he's gotten better at it!).
It's my job to come on the Board daily and pull off the news, including copying off the Chronicles so they can be read later. Yes, things have slowed down, but in the year plus that I've been coming here, it has always cycled. People come and people go, but that's part of what makes the site so interesting.
In closing, I'd ask that you leave the board active at least till I get the answers to the following questions:
1. Why does Alice have that braid in her hair during the last part of the movie?
2. Is the pack horse really in Jo's backyard?
3. Did Hawkeye and Cora do the deed on the ramparts, or was it just heavy petting?
4. Did Ching and Uncus jump through the water fall, or did they get down another way? And if they jumped, how did Hawkeye get to dry land before Ching?
5. When will Uncus decide which ear to wear the earring in?
6. Exactly what is the guy with the megaphone saying?
7. And last, but not least, Is Michael the Last of the Federicis?
Hang in there, and have a great Christmas. It has to be wonderful at your house with all those kids! And know that you're appreciated in all that you do here, whether we're real vocal in our appreciation or not.
