: : : : : Greetings Mohicanites! After checking out this wonderful site and some of the links provided here, I admit I was rather dismayed by one seemingly small error on my part. I have seen LOTM about a gazillion trillion times- and I always believed that Duncan's last lines were "I've got common sense, take her and get out!". Now that I've listened to the WAV file I can definitely tell that it's "My compliments sir.."- but I really thought it was the former all these years! I'm just curious if anyone else experienced a similar misinterpretation..

: : : : Oh, Lyn! You don't know what you're asking, Girl! ;o) We have had SO many misinterpretations over the years! A great deal of fun has been shared on this Board by discussing what we THOUGHT we heard. And the line you mention is one of the ones most frequently misinterpreted. It took me countless viewings to finally figure it out, but no one did a finer job of "mishearing" it than our own Doctor Mary! She swears she thought Duncan was saying, "My corns hurt, Sir! Take her & get out!" hehehe!!!

: : : : Other misheard lines include "It's torture, Jack!" for "Need to talk to you, Jack!" and the famous mention of Ongowesgone (spelling?) which was interpreted by some as "Uncle Wiscone." Then there was the famous "I cannot be an ignorant scooger" for Alice's remark to Cora, "I cannot be an invalid schoolgirl."

: : : : Everyone ready with our Club Chant? All together now, one...two...three..."Say, Wha'?????"

: : : I most humbly admit that up until VERY recently (more recently than anybody here needs to know) I STILL thought it was "Uncle Wiscone." I just thought it was a neat nickname. Oh well. Maybe I missed that part when I was searching all the board archives for the loincloth bikini line discussion *slinking off in rank embarrassment*

: : And what about OUR favourite, MMMM - 'Kentucky lick your wounds'! :o)

: : Kate.

: Ah, yes...Kentucky I'll lick your wounds....makes me giggle just to remember it, Miss Kate!
: MMMM

Hmmmm, I seem to remember a lot of snorting coming from one particular corner of the movie theatre last June when THAT line came up!!
