Dear R&E,

I was visiting this evening, as you will see, to catch up. I was reading your post some time ago about the state of the site. I hope by now your fans have convinced you that THIS IS A GOOD THING! (We don't need Martha to tell us that!) Anyway, here's my belated two cents worth.

First, your site is still THE SITE I use on the lecture circuit as the epitome of a good site for "knowledge management" (KM)-- the perfect example of how the technology is supportive of, but subject to, the community and the content. The community and the content are what make this site amazing. As I lecture about KM, I use every day fun examples of what KM means so that people understand it in ordinary terms. For example, if I want to learn more about XYZ (aka LOTM), I could start on a page, link to another page and learn more, and so on until LO, I have learned more than I ever thought possible. A quintessential example of answering what you don't know you don't know. That's THIS SITE. (Admittedly, not everyone does that, but LOTS do!!)

Second, and all that said, you two more than anyone should know that communities come and go in bodies and emotions. New people come (reshowing of the movie, as last week; and with them, the same-old-same-old is VERY new and interesting; witness me 2.5 yrs months ago and you were an old hat at it!!!!), old people move on (have kids=no time for PC; new reenactment hobby=need to focus elsewhere for some time; etc.). The new people bring a different feeling; some love the history but some don't; some love Eric Schweig, some used to... ;>))). Some still love DDL and some appreciate Duncan more every day. Alice is always and enigma. My point is, there are highs and lows, you know that! But with this board, even the lows are pretty good, you have to admit!

At any rate, you are about to begin another year with this site. It's now THE source for anything LOTM or related. __*THE SOURCE*__--Period. Here's two examples from one of the eGroup lists:

My point with that is, this board is the tip of the iceberg and also the icing on the cake!!! Mohican Press and MP Board, Live On!!
