: : : Dear Miss Katie,

: : : Am sending this Runner with a bundle of goose feathers for your down quilts. The geese are darkenin' the sky like rain clouds headin' south, and the shootin' yesterday got me almost outta lead. Fortunately, while I was skinnin' a doe in the forest last night, I crossed paths with a young man by the name o' Morgan, who says he is bound for the Ohio Territory to start a tradin' post for his fri'nd, John Baynton. When he seed how slick I was takin' and saltin' the skin, Morgan asked if I would like to hire on as a long hunter and make my fortun' with his tradin' company, but I have other obligations to fulfil at the time, and told him as nicely as possible that is not a possibility. Nevertheless, he traded me some lead, salt, sugar and a fine blanket coat for the buckskin plus all the geese I had plucked and drawn and salted. We shared a crisp-cooked goose and some corn fritters afore we parted ways, and I wish him well in his venture.

: : : Hector is enjoyin' the trip. I woke up this mornin' to find he had wrapped himself in yer quilt, and I was burrowed in a cover o' leaves tryin' to keep warm. Wouldn't mind so much if the hound didn't snore so loud to boot.

: : Oooooh, Afternoon Sir!

: : Have you come to have a good rummage through my bedding? No? Oh...shame, my beddng being the talk of the town and all. After all, I AM a professional! 'Bedding' is my Business! Indeed, 'bedding' is what I do best, Sir!!

: : Oh, you've brought me a present from 'She'!! Well, gosh sakes, man, why didn't you SAY so (do I know you??) Yes, 'She' is one MIGHTY longhunter (or is that 'longhunteress? Oh, who cares!! Feminism ain't here yet! And I declare, when it comes, all men, children, Capitalism and 'the Gay Rights Movement' better watch out, is all I can say!!) Sorry!! where was I??

: Hey Miss Katie, would "He Who Shall Not Be Named" be any relation to my dastardly ex in the wilds of the Seattle terriroty -- the one we call "He Whose Name Shall Not Be Spoken???"

: By the way, Doc M, I need another shipment of those ex-hexes. Huron Delivery Boy has a runner ready to deliver the fall dose of flagpole flappin.!

Ah! So - that is a definite confirmation, is it?!! 'He Who Shall Not Be Named' has an evil twin brother, who also deals in questionable quality trade goods, on the other side of the valley!! Uh - huh!! There WAS talk, but... Well, *I'm* not one for listening to gossip, dontcha know!!
