: : The first time I saw LOTM and Nathaniel put poor Duncan out of his misery, I thought for sure that a bunch of warriors would've given chase. It seems to me that they would have been furious that Nathaniel deprived them of the "pleasure" of watching the British officer fry. From what I've read, for some tribes, the more their victims screamed during torture, the more the tribe enjoyed tormenting their enemy. Other tribes greatly respected the man who faced his death without crying or carrying on. A la Magua, when he knows he's toast and he stands to face Ching. and his own death.

: Good points.  I thought the same thing - wondered why the Huron didnt give chase.  It always struck me though, that Magua was more in shock - both mentally and physically - rather than stoically facing his death.  Both arms were rendered useless - hadda hurt.  In shock and nowhere to go - what else could he do?
: Poor guy.  He was misunderstood.  Not his fault the way he turned out.  His parents probably toilet trained him with a threatening tomahawk.
