The Mahican-Mohawk Trail

Here in New England, this is everyone's favorite time of year. If we can't wait for the brilliant foliage to reach our latitude, we motor to Quebec in September, Vermont and NH for Columbus Day, and the Massachusetts farmlands thereafter.

My own favorite route (from the Boston area) is west on Route 2 and its more scenic byway 2A; a portion of 2 covers The Mohawk Trail. (This is surely the corridor taken by the Munros and countless others enroute to the Hudson.) Although much of the "trail" is paved, part of the original path, the Mahican-Mohawk Trail, is a hiker's dream -- indeed it's billed as a "rough hike." I can just see some of you tramping thru the forests -- and writing about it!
