Corporal MacWilliam,

We were fortunate to enlist this young Delaware runner to deliver our message.

Angus and I spent the night at Joseph Wipey's cabin, high on a bluff overlooking the Conemaugh River last night. From that position we observed a large body of French Regulars crossing the river towards the south, and your location. We also saw that Red Leaf and his savages are with them. There are more than three hundred French and maybe sixtey savages now camped on the south of the Conemaugh near Squirrel Hill Town. It is but a mere four to five day march for them to the Loyalhanna Creek.

We will trail behind them at a safe distance as not to give ourselves away, and keep their movements in sight.

Please warn the Captain, and get the lads of the Regiment on alert.

May St. Andrew protect you and the lads.....

John MacKay
