: Hi,
: I originally posted this question last evening, but it was archived before it was answered, so I've moved it over here.

Yep. Saw it! Was going to do so myself ...

> Since I have no patience and couldn't find this in about 3 minutes of searching on this terrific site (to which I've been referring people, BTW), I thought I'd just ask my new question and come back later to find another informative, well-written response. Here goes: I was reading my On the Trail last night, and I noticed it said that the scene of Nathaniel and Cora embracing after Magua's death was filmed a year after the primary filming.

This is true.

>(1) Why was that,

The stated reason was that Michael Mann felt it made the movie flow better. What is SO amusing to me is that he CUT that scene from the DVD!

>and (2) were any of the other scenes filmed so much later?

No. The filming, other than that one scene, finished in October 1991. That would be the filming of the cave scene, under the falls - plus, that little shot of Uncas watching Alice as she climbed the Falls during the River Walk sequence ... in the parking lot of the warehouse in which the cave set was built.

>For bonus points: If primary filming was in the summer of '91 and the film was released in the fall of '92, how did that work?

Not sure what you mean by this ... If it's, "Why did it take so long?" the answer would be ... Michael Mann is a perfectionist. He meticulously worked on the film, a time consuming process. Having presented it to Fox, at least 15 minutes longer than the version eventually released, he was ordered to trim it. Hastily, that was done. It is my guess that that fact explains, at least partially, the "bloopers" that made their way on screen!

> Once again, thank you in advance for helping a curious newbie.

No problem ... That's what we're here for!
