From Webster: 2. a bundle of long, stiff fibers or straws (orig. twigs of broom) fastened to a long handle and used for sweeping -vt. to sweep as with a broom.

From the Gnome Book of Tomes: 1. broom - the normal conveyance or vehicle of choice for genus Doctorus Lascivius Maryus. 2. A long handled, straw or twig tipped mallet used by certain degenerate humans with which to beat harmless Gnomes.
