: : : : : : : : I got a couple disturbing phone calls last nite about my job. 3 office people were laid off and we all had to come in at 7am this morning for a major meeting. Well, I didn`t get far in the gate when 5 operators, including me were asked to go to the office. Seems sales are WAY down and half the plant was shut down including my unit. 17 other employees including myself were laid off this morning. This pretty much kills my summer plans including Gathering. The plant has been in operation for 55 years and this is the first time they have had a lay off. I have been there for 7 years and out of 40 operators, I`m #2. It just didn`t make any since.
: : : : : : : : I`ll do everything I can to make Gathering but it looks real slim. They are paying us for our vacation time and even if we get called back, we won`t have anymore for the year. I`ll let you all know how things work out.

: : : : : : : : Clabert

: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : Clabert,

: : : : : : : I, too, am dismayed that you and your family won't be able to attend the Gathering. I was ready to provide chaffeur services yet another year! Please keep positive thoughts - much can happen in four months. (I haven't told Karen yet - she will also be very disappointed and concerned.)

: : : : : : : Jayne
: : : : : : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

: : : : : : I want to thank all of you that have written and/or called (Adele called me from England yesterday) This morning it really hit home and I`ve been very down. (was supposed to go to work tonight) The notes really help. I`m not giving up on Gathering. Cyndie even said if I can get the time and can find a way to get there I may still be able to come myself. We`ll just have to see what the next 3 months bring.
: : : : : : Well, I better git. I have dishes to do and a couple loads of cloths to wash. I have to start planning what I`m cooking for supper to. Yes. I do these things. Hey! Someday I may make someone a good wife. :) As long as they don`t make me do all this wearing nothing but a breechclout! Hahahaha

: : : : : : Clabert

: : : : : Hahahaha....are you kidding. That congers up all kinds of wonderful ideas to me. Oh WOW, a studdly fellow (such as yourself), doing the laundry, the mountains of dishes, the vacuuming (with 5 cats -bleckkkkkkk - there is plenty to vacuum), ....hmmmmmmmmmmm. Couldn't be letting him out to do the grass though like that, might put other fems onto my good find! Oh, I guess I could do yard work...OH YES, I could find plenty of THINGS for a breechclouted fellow to do at my house!

: : : : : See the effect you have on us ladies even away from the gathering! Come to think of it...I believe the WEST WING has a kitchen, and beds to make, and floors to sweep. Oh you simply must come to zee gazzering, Meester Clabert, you must! We will make zee special breechclout (I'm thinking French maid-like here, "French" Trader), black wis zee white ruffle around zee edges. We will provide the feather duster and mop!

: : : : : Off to daydream about the possibilities.....
: : : : : Diana S.

: : : : *muttering* I swear to god, every time somebody mentions breechclout around here, I gotta follow these wimmin around with a cold bucket of water just to keep them upright and sensible.
: : : : *preparing to douse Diana S.*

: : : : GnomeDome

: : :
: : : Get away from me with that coooooold water, gnomie. I wonder how you'd behave if visions of native and frontier women wearing bikini "clouts" frolicking through the woods (or cleaning house) were frequently presented here. THEN who'd be hauling around buckets o' cold water? ...US WIMMIN, that's who! So, if you're a nice little gnome, and put down that water, I'll do Betty Gnome a HUGE favor and make you an itty bitty like French maid breechclout for your very own to do housework in. OK?

: : : She-who-never-catches-typos-and-misspelled-words-until-about-the-fifth-time-around,

: : : Di
: : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

: : Hahahahaha! Just my way o`stirrrrrin you wimmin up! But I draw the line at having ruffles on my breechclout. Now maybe some ruffles on the neck and cuffs of a nice white trade shirt? I could go for that. And you would have to buy me lots of pretty trade silver to pin on that shirt too. (come on Bill, we have to play`um for all we can get out of um)

: : Clabert

: GREAT IDEA Clabert! Ruffled cuffs and a choker would top that outfit right off! I'm gonna hafta say nay to the shirt part though...and if you do a REAL good job cleaning, we'll tuck PLENTY of silver (or cigarettes for the East Wing Gnome) into the edges of your breechclout!

: Now be sure and 'splain to Cyndie that we're just joshin' with ya 'cause we love ya! We'd NEVER, EVER allow to clean our West Wing, the other parts we'll look over too (and over, and over, and over....)

: ;-) Di

...Sounds as though GnomeDome could us a "wiennie bikini"! Theresa
