: : Well Bill, I love cats as well..had one or two in the house for years, but they were INDOOR cats. However, I have a problem with the neighbour's cats that roam all over the place, scaring off the birds, chasing the squirrels and especially using my flower beds and planters for their !*!*!* outdoor kitty litters!! Makes gardening in the Spring a real pleasure, don'tch know?? Yuk!!

: !!!!!!!!!!!!!

: Hi, Jeri! You don't even wanna get me STARTED on people who are not responsible for their animals (or for that matter, their children). I have had cats all my life, sometimes as many as 8 at a time, before finding GOOD homes for them, and they never, EVER set one little foot outdoors. Largely because the average life expectancy of an outdoor cat is 2 years. For an indoor cat it's over 15! That right there tells me something.

: I do admit that some people live in areas where it isn't quite so dangerous for their cat to be outside, and I won't quarrel with them, even though I still think they are safer INSIDE. But MOST people who let their cats AND dogs run loose are doing a terrible disservice to the animal as well as being thoughtless and inconsiderate neighbors! Whew! I needed to say that, since there was a pile of doggy poop the size of a small car right beside my mailbox today, and the dog that left it is the size of a small TRUCK, and runs loose daily to dig through garbage cans & rip up newspapers, & leave calling cards in the most inconvenient of places. I think that's inexcusable, and I don't blame the DOG!

: We also have cats who come through our yard & ambush the birds at my feeders, and spray the outside benches, and drive my cats to near insanity with their very presence. Of course, most of these feline visitors have been chewed up in cat fights & have tattered ears or even sores on them, and have fleas galore, even though I happen to know they "belong" to people down the street. It's just plain WRONG.

: And to relate this to Mohicanland, let me say that Miss Marcia highly disapproves of such behavior and says any stray animals found wandering about her Famous Downhome Kitchen (except for Hector who is STILL staying with her, awaiting the return of SHE) may likely find themselves part of the entree du jour! Just a word to the wise, doncha know!

: Now about this refusal of some people to have their animals spayed or neutered...

: MMMM(See, I TOLD ya you didn't want to get me started!)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

LOL...that's ok Marcia! I agree with everything you've said. The last cat we had was my Mother's Siamese and he lived until the ripe old age of 19!!

So Hector's staying with you huh? Best to keep an eye on him..there's a certain oversized bobcat called Merlin who's still looking for him. By the way, how'd that mangy mutt ever manage to get that pot off his head? (hehehe)

..Jeri
