Dear Friends:

Our deposit has been forwarded to Cedar Creek and our dinner, concert and riding adventcha secured. For those who have been holding off on making your reservations for the event, please get them in as soon as possible. There are about 10 riding spots still available, for you intrepid souls who are willing to brave a Huron ambush from atop 'Ole Thunderball...first come, first served.

Since Cedar Creek can only accommodate between 10 and 15 riders at a time, our riding will be staggered throughout the afternoon (roughly, on the hour, starting at 1:00 p.m.) If those of you who have signed up for the package including riding would be so kind as to email me with the riding time you prefer (1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. or 5 p.m.), I will try to schedule you for that time slot. Those who do not express a preference, I will fit in at random. Prior to the Gathering you will all receive tickets for the Potluck event...the riding package tickets will also indicate your assigned riding time. Absent any other instructions from me, it is important that you plan on being at Cedar Creek at your appointed riding time, dressed out and ready to mount up.

The dinner looks like it will be a rare feast, combining traditional 18th century fare with the prize recipes of Mohicanland's finest...among the promised delicacies for our table: Elaine's Indian Pudding, Miss Kate's Authentic Scottish Shortbread (and if we are REALLY, REALLY good and have done our part for Ariel's Cabin, she just might make us some Athol Brose, a dish involving copious amounts of fine malt whiskey!), "Special Bits from Duncan's Barbeque" (I shudder to ask!), homemade breads of all types, fresh salad greens from Nightsky's farm, and from the MacWilliam's Clan, their famous "Squirrel and Venison Stew". Yep, REAL squirrels! And I'm counting on Miss Marcia to serve up some fine dishes to compliment the stew...unless of course she was fixing to make one of her squirrel dishes as well...in which case we may just have to sponsor a "Varmint Cook-off"...with the winner to take home all tails and ears! Now keep those recipes coming in....

Many thanks to our Scout of Scouts Rich who fought his way through the wilderness to check out Cedar Creek for me...and thanks also to those of you who have bravely volunteered to help out with the Potluck during the days of the Gathering...I will definitely need your services and will be hunting for you on Wednesday and Thursday, so roll up your sleeves and get ready!

Only 3 months to go!

Lady Ann
