Dink and Sly had expected our party to be at your stockade before now, but this message will explain the tardiness.

As our party passed The Blue Knob last week we came across the tracks of twelve Warriors that joined the ones of Red Bud. They formed a circle around Red Bud, and it appeared the central figure put on quite a show on their behalf. Red Bud's tracks were combined with the impressions of arms, legs, buttocks, and a face print leaving one to believe as he was dancing around he kept falling and stumbling to the ground. All the tracks then headed off in the direction of Raestown. Dink feels that Red Bud is now accompanied by a dozen Shawnee Warriors, and has determined this by the impressions made by their moccasins. We are not a superstitious lot, but for those that are, this would make Red Bud the thirteenth member of a Shawnee War Party. The tracks have led us to within two days of Raestown, and where the most disturbing part of this message lies.

The Spring snow fall of yesterday slowed us considerably, and this morning found the site of a ritual conducted by the natives that we are following. There was a small clearing on the path where the snow was covered by copious amounts of blood. Strewn about the area were legs, bodies and heads of CHICKENS! There were enough parts to make a dozen or more of the birds. No one knows the meaning of this disturbing sight. I have never witnessed such a display, and wish never to see another like it.

We are still on the track, but will most likely abandon the search tomorrow due to low supplies. We should be at your stockade in two days.
