: : I'm serious! Really. I have those damn spiral cookbooks from about everyplace I have lived or visited or worked for. I even have one called Petticoat Paratrooper's Cookbook made up by the wives of the 82d Abn. and 307th Engrs.

: : Surely with all the food favorites discussed on this board we could come up with something interesting for Elaine and Rich to sell off the board. Hell I already have three I could contribute: GnomeDome's Wild Mushroom Saute, Billygnome's Chestnut Soup and Bill R's Colonial Game Pie. I am sure Betty Gnome has several she could contribute. If they had a colonial or regional or family favorite theme all the better!

: : What do you think? Huh? What do you think?

: Hi Bill,

: Sorry to sound flippant (obviously MY night for apologising.:o( but I DID mean that it COULD work! Actually I have a couple of books JUST like that - spiral binding, Young Farmers/Women's Guild covers... my latest and VERY interesting being a copy of 'The Ellis Island Immigrant Cookbook' which I picked up on holiday in New York a couple of years ago - it is SOOO poignant!!!

: I have to admit that I don't think I have the technological ability to actually make 'em up, but... I DO think it would be a WONDERFUL souvenir and I, for one, would love to have one!

: Good idea, Bill!
: Kate.

I know! I know! It would be great I think! I can see something coming from French Trader along the lines of Poulet Bourginon and Creme Brule and so forth, plus he has lots of recipes I bet that are NA or French. The Canadian Traders, English Traders, Ilse with her Dutch recipes (after all folks, it was the Dutch who founded New York, and their influence is still felt!) Ros has some good ones I bet. Oh yeah. It could work. And wonderfully. I'd damn sure buy one or two.

And Kate? My colonial game pie is rich with Port Wine. The wild mushroom saute, depending on use, has beer or wine in it.
And you KNOW anything that danged Frenchie Trader has as a recipe probably has Peach Brandy or some other purloined booze in it. They drink like fishes and make love with their faces I am told.

Bill R
