: Hello everyone. After pouring over that past Gatherings for days and days, I am finally up to date. Boy am I exhausted! Reading all the accounts of '98, '99, and '00 Gatherings, putting names with faces, hearing responses from those of you who have been there, and listening to the wonderful background music (which, by the way, I love), I almost have my bags packed and ready to hit the road.

: With that said, I can't help but be a little nervous about coming into an established "family". I feel as though I know some of you simply through email and conversation on this board. I know I will be entertained, informed, and welcomed. I hope that Soldier #2 will still give us the behind-the-scenes-goings-on and that the re-enactors will re-enact for us "virgin" Mohicanites. I'm sure you "veterans" won't mind.

: I become more and more excited about coming with each passing day. Checking in here daily for any updates and news. See you all in June.

: Theresa...Bama Babe with the Bama Bound Bama Print! Hey Ros!

Dear Theresa:

You have nothing to worry about...last year the MacLeod and I were Mohican novices, wondering every step of the way whether we were casting our lot with some strange cult secretly dedicated to the worship of Daniel Day-Lewis, led by Supreme Leader Richfed and his equally scary wife, Laney-the-Great-and-Terrible, and populated with the minions of evil (see all BB references to someone named "Doc Mary") and the odd (gnomes and ducks and bees, oh my!). Instead what we found in the mountains of North Carolina was an interesting and entertaining group of more or less perfectly normal people (I'm hedging here because I still haven't met Doc Mary)who took us right into their company and made us feel most welcome. The whirlwind days of the 2000 Gathering were some of the most fun (and exhausting!) I've ever had...and it is wonderful to be part of the Mohican Family. A word of consideration here...I found myself so grateful to be so warmly accepted into this group I immediately started volunteering for all kinds of duties for the 2001 Gathering...also fun, and definitely worth the effort, but quite time consuming! So be prepared...once you make that first Gathering, you are hooked for life....

Looking forward to meeting you!

Lady Ann and The MacLeod
