March 26,1759
Two Valleys East of Raestown

We of the Regiment are astonished by the tracking skills of Dink and HalfBreed. Although having been at the Stockade a few days, retraceing their steps through this wild country is effortless. Mr Goersch is having trouble keeping up through the trackless forest and undergrowth, but he seems determined not to be left behind. I have not heard a complaint from anyone, including Seamus. I am thinking that the grimness of our task has everyone in a soulful mood.

We have seen more evidence of Red Bud's insaneness along our path. Trees that have bark slashed and cut and strange symbols painted on rocks in red and black. There is a noticeable lack of birds and other forest animals. It is hard to imagine the hate of Red Bud causing all of this destruction.

We will spend this night in an abandoned cavern Dink and HalfBreed found while scouting this area last week. It is large enough for our entire party, including Matthias' mule. He calls the animal "Miriam"; named so in honour of his mother-in-law. He is a mostly pleasant fellow, but keeps to himself mumbling constantly in his native German tongue. We have another two or three miles to cover tomorrow, according to HalfBreed, and will find the makeshift grave before noon.

I was hopeing to bring along the Priest from Raestown to conduct any needed ceremonies involved in relocateing a body already buried. But Captain Croy said that wouldn't be necessary due to the unofficial manner she was buried the first time. I am not superstitious, but have an eerie feeling about our chore. We will find out soon enough, if bad luck awaits us.
