: : : Our crew is home! Thank God! We welcome them back and thank them for their sacrifice. I am so happy for their families! It must have been a terrible ordeal for them.

: : : YAY! They're home!

Well, Ilse, sorry to disappoint you.

My comment was motivated by feelings of patriotism and pride; patriotism for my country and deep pride in the crew who was able to land a severely damaged aircraft safely and then behave so professionally while in captivity. I also am pleased and do thank the Chinese for treating them so nicely. In no way am I going to get into a political debate here, but I will say that if anyone has an ass-kicking coming, it is the Chinese government....not only for allowing a hotdog flyboy to play dangerous games which, unfortunately for his family, cost him his life, but also for basic human rights issues which are far too numerous to detail here. As far as "spying" or operating a surveillance operation goes, all the major players do it, we all know it, and THAT is how the game is played in this world. "Know thine enemy" is the key. It has been a credo since Adam and Eve ate the apple. It IS a dangerous game, and there have been and there will continue to be casualties. Except for the skill of the pilot and his crew, there were 24 more angels on their way to Heaven....this time. No one wants this kind of thing to happen.....ever........but it does.

I am a flag waver, for sure, and Nancy outwaves even me. It all, began in the days we MacWilliams write about, continues through the American Revolution, the War of 1812, our Civil War, Spanish American War, WWI, and WWII (Hmmmmm......where would we all be had we not been involved with that last one??)Korea, VietNam, and on into today. I can trace MY ancestors through every one of them, and very recetly ended my term as President of our local chapter of The Sons of the American Revolution. See where I am coming from?

Besides, Mother Ewe told me, privately, that she is afraid of deep water and gets airsick.

Pax aye!

Seamus
