: : :: "At any rate, the French explorers who passed through northwestern Wyoming took one look at the mountains and said, 'Zut alors! Hey, Jacques, clock those mountains. They look just like my wife's tetons.' Isn't it typical of the French to reduce everything to a level of sexual vulgarity? Thank goodness they didn't discover the Grand Canyon, that's all I can say. And the remarkable thing is that the Tetons look about as much like tits as ... well, as a frying pan or a pair of hiking boots. In a word, they don't look like tits at all, except perhaps to desperately lonely men who have been away from home for a very long time. They looked a little bit like tits to me."

: : : I guess that's MY thought for the day!

: : Hi Rich,
: : I haven't visited the Grand Tetons in quite a few years, but I'm sure there are at least 3 mountains there, maybe 4. What was that man thinking???
: : Chris

: Sounds like a good read Rich. I'll look for that one.

: These French explorers obviously didn't pass by Pilot Mt. on their way to the Tetons. NOW THAT mountain looks like a titty! In fact we call it "Titty Mountain", and most people from NC know where we are talking about.

: Have a good one all!

Strolling down Mohican memory lane: during the first gathering us girls did come up with some less than innocent alternatives to the name "Chimney Rock", that are best not repeated on this board.

Bryson is absolutely great. Rich, did you read "Down Under" on his travels in Australia? I can highly recommend it; it's hilarious. To convince you: following a quote that is somewhat six degrees related to yours.... which makes it sort of related to LOTM, eh.... right?

"Then, having nothing better to do, I leafed through the index and amused myself, in a very low-key way, by looking for ridiculous names, of which Australia has a respectable plenitude. I am thus able to report that the following are all real places: Wee Waa, Poowong, Burrumbuttock, Suggan Buggan, Boomahnoomoonah, Waaia, Mullumbimby, Ewylamartup, Jiggalong and the supremely satisfying Tittybong."
