: I found this site after reading JFC's "Deerslayer", and I have to say that your enthusiasm for the period, for history in general and for the LOTM movie is infectious.

Well, good!

: I've not seen the movie since seeing a pirate version that someone picked up in Dubai when I was flying in the Navy, but it struck me then as one of the better movies I had ever seen. Now, I'll have to go find it and watch it again.

Yeah ... tough chore!

: I love this web site too, and have bookmarked it and will no-doubt read all it has to offer on the subject.

Thank you! Appreciated!

: What else is there? What other movies are good for people who loved this one?

Hmmm ... this should provoke a wide variety of answers, but since no one has thus far stepped forward, I'll take a stab!

"Good for people who liked this one" ... I can only assume that there is a common thread in all of us who have so thoroughly enjoyed "The Last of the Mohicans." Exactly what that is, I'm not quite sure, I can only list some of my very favorites. Perhaps you'll find a few to your liking. Before I list them, let me say that clearly LOTM is far and away the best colonial-era film around. The old standbys, like "Northwest Passage" can be entertaining, but I just can't rank them among my favorites.

Here goes, in no particular order:

Braveheart
Rob Roy
Lonesome Dove
The Alamo
Meet Joe Black
Gladiator
Son of the Morning Star
Alien & Aliens
It, The Terror From Beyond Space (the forebearer of the Aliens films)
Most all Abbott & Costello films
The Wizard of Oz
13 Days To Glory
Dances With Wolves
Jurassic Park
Titanic
Seven
Gettysburg
Glory
Saving Private Ryan
Easy Rider
Bonnie & Clyde
I Will Fight No More Forever
Zulu, Zulu Dawn, & Shaka Zulu

A few films on the Revolutionary War period you MIGHT enjoy are:

The Patriot
Revolution
April Morning (deals with Lexington Green, the anniversary of which was yesterday, April 19)

And a couple of old classics:

Fort Apache
They Died With Their Boots On

That's some, off the top of my head ... Sounds schizophrenic, doesn't it? DON'T answer that!
