This reminds me of when my Heather was in her early teens. We had a conversation that went something like:

'Heather, why do you always were those long, draping skirts?? Why don't you wear those nice, shorter layered skirts, like the other girls??' 'Oh Mum! *flounce!* I'm an INDIVIDUAL!' Ten minutes later, 'Mum, can I get some new Nike trainers?' 'No, Heather, they're £60.!!!' 'Awwwww... but ALL MY FRIENDS have them!' :o)

Yeah, do you remember how 'unique' you felt, being an 'individual', when you were 13 years old?? :o)
