#22 - There were 81 film productions filmed in Western NC last year.

Wilmington has been called the "Hollywood of the East", but the western part of the state is AND HAS BEEN a popular area for filming. Some previous movies filmed in this part of the state BESIDES LOTM are, *The Swan*, Being There*, *Richie Rich*, parts of *Patch Adams* filmed at Biltmore, *A Stoning in Fulham County* and *The Ryan White Story* both filmed in Statesville, *Brainstorm*, *Stroker Ace*, *Nell* filmed near Fontana Dam (The tallest Dam in the Eastern US), *Dirty Dancing* filmed at Lake Lure, and these are just a few. Know of any others???

In ten more days
We'll leave behind the rat-race ways,
And head to Carolina,
Where nuthin' could be finer!
