#28 - Blowing Rock, in Watuaga county, is a peculiar rock outcropping 3000 feet above the Johns River Valley. It got its name because the wind always blows there, and frequently sufficient updrafts cause snow to fall upwards and light objects thrown over the side to be returned to their owners.

Indian legend tells of a despondent brave, rejected by his maiden, who flung himself from the rock only to be caught in the currents and returned to his remorseful lover.

I've heard of this legend since I was a child and, hence, did not throw my ex-husband over any rock outcroppings. I certainly didn't want to start any legends and I REALLY didn't want him to be flung back up to me.

In 3 more short little days we'll all be led,
To beautiful sites by "The Ponytail", its said.
So no one should get in our way,
Or they'll "STAY AS THEY LAY",
After being WHOPPED up sid'a da head!

THE WEEK IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!!
