The trails we took to the falls are a bit more difficult than the trail back. It was a lot of fun though as the path leads across some very pretty vistas. Oh BTW, when hiking back, you'll come upon a stream you'll have to cross (between the intersections of Shoals Rd (trail #81) and Little River Trail (trail #51)). There's no bridge. We had to remove our boots and walk across. It gave us an excuse to dangle our feet in the nice cool mountain stream water and take a break (the things we have to put up with...).

However, why did it surprise you that there were "no signs" indicating you were on Cedar Rock Trail??? Isn't this the North Carolina way???

Thanks for the map link (don't you just love that "optional link URL" slot???); these maps were for sale after the showing of LOTM. Too bad we didn't have them before our "two mile" hike; but then again, it may not have helped...

All of that Dupont website is an interesting one.

So, how was it hiking on a trail without 58 companions???
