: Hi Seamus, thanks for your concern. That is a good thing to remember, especially in light of the recent incident and tightened security- not to mention it's gun-like shape... I talked it over already with my mom and dad and we're having the meeting for the science fair at a private location and they said it would be ok as long as it is unsharpened. :)

Canebrake, Chingachgook's war club has been discussed in some of the archived threads here, and is mentioned in some of the myriad pages of this site. It has also come under discussion on other boards that I frequent. It is indeed a very interesting piece. It apparently is rather large compared to the originals. Somewhere on this site, there is mention of some of the cast of LOTM referring to it as Chingachgook's "nuclear war club".

I've put a link below to a page here which mentions the fact that Randall King owns one of the two "real" (as opposed to rubber(?) versions:

"My friend, Jim Yelloweagle, created the war club for the movie; the one used by Chingachgook. Only two real ones (wood and steel blade) were made for the film, I am the lucky owner of one of these. I have seen many people claiming to be the original maker, but here is what the original looks like. ... Randall King. The other, of course, resides in a glass enclosed case at Chimney Rock Park."

I have seen many different theories on the "gunstock" style war clubs, and whether they were or were not inspired by European gunstocks, as well as whether they did or did not predate European arrival. Very interesting stuff.
