: In the days following September Eleventh, I was heartened by the many expressions of support, sympathy and solidarity from those overseas.  In particular some Brits I know were right there with us.

: On the other hand, I've also encountered many comments (from "within" as well) that ranged from insensitive to downright vicious.  (And I'm not talking about the Islamic world here.)

: I was talking about this with a friend of mind in England, and she pointed me to the UK Sunday Times article by Bryan Appleyard that I've linked below.
