Sarah,

Totally agree. While technology is a wonderful resource, heck, were it not for technology many of us would never have met, I believe it is creating a laziness when it comes to doing research. I find that students don't know how to use encyclopedias, world almanacs, an atlas, geographical and biographical dictionaries, current biographies. They don't know how to use something as simple as an index nor do they know how to cross reference. It is so much quicker to find the information with a touch of a button. I believe that this also contributes to the low attention span some students have...."let's look it up on the computer...key in question...and 'presto' there's the answer." They don't go to the trouble to dig and stick with it until they've found the information. I'm not saying information you find through using technology is a bad thing. It's not. It's just that there is a TON of info in our resource books and the skill on using these is fast becoming extinct. GOD! I sound like my old maid high school history teacher.

: Scott,

: I'm with you. But my little quirk is that people should spend some time doing a little research (using the search engine on this site would have uncovered the discussion you are referring to) before asking people to do the work for them.

: Especially for a school project. The most important part of a school project is the work you put into it, learning how to research and problem-solve. I'm happy to provide answers but only when people indicate to me they've made a good faith effort to find things out on their own rather than asking for the answer to be handed to them.

: Just my opinion, too.

: Cheers,
: Sarah M.

: : : if anyone know anything about the signing of the greenville ohio treaty please email me at katiebird06@yahoo.com thankyou

: : If you look further down the page, (around August 4), there was significant discussion of the treaty.

: : Now perhaps someone here will be happy to email you, but I've got this little quirk. When you post a query on a discussion board it's good manners to come back and see what people have come up with, acknowledge it, and perhaps even give something back.

: : Just my opinion.
