: someone posted this same question a little while ago, but no one responded... so I'll ask it again.
: does anyone know what the tattoos were on hawkeye (and the others for that matter), if the were authentic in design, and what those tattoos would mean, or represent.

: also, is anyone excited to see Lord of the Rings?? it's got some LOTM in it... The character Aragorn (aka Strider) is basically Hawkeye with a sword.. in fact they wanted DDL to play the part, but he didn't want to commit to a two year shoot...

: finally I'm about 3/4 of the way through Deerslayer...which is really a good book. right now, Deerslayer has the most beautiful girl he has ever seen, madly in love with him... but he has no clue, cause he's too busy loving Nature!!
: "Deerslayer, don't you love a woman's laugh?"
: "it is lovely indeed, but give me the laughter of the stream, or of the wind through the trees!!!!"
: I hope he snaps out of it soon....

Ben,

There has been discussion on the board from time to time about the tattoos; I, however, don't recall if anyone really knew how authentic they were or weren't; I only remember how they were applied everyday to the cast. There is many a mention of them on other pages of this site; there's a search engine on the front page for that. However, as far as the board goes; you might check out these posts; if I remember any others; I'll let you know:

And for reading Deerslayer; I'm very impressed! We had a book club going along here for a bit awhile back; and I believe that was the book SOME of us managed to start and even fewer finished....there are some excellant Cooper pages/discussions on the site - check them out! As for me; well, my copy of LOTM is still laying on the floor where it landed after I flung it against the wall in a fit of hysterical anger....still waiting for the last few pages to be read.

(Do I still need to run fast, now? I wonder....)

Jo
