Reading your Sunday message, I could really sense your frustration with the site. And I admit, I check in, and only post once in a great while. And, last year, I didn't check in with the site at all, so I missed the big "what happened" in July. I don't know what happened then, other than what I could glean from some references in the postings, and the absence of some of the "regulars".
But, to me, it seems that this community might be in the process of re-defining itself. I sincerely hope that you don't give up on this--- a miracle may happen yet! Maybe the rift can be healed, maybe not. Or maybe new people will join in. Mohicanland might not ever be the same as it was before. But at the same time, I have to admit, sometimes I had no clue what some of those characters were talking about --- they were being funny, silly, etc.---but I didn't really feel I could respond!
Anyway, a reporter friend of mine once told me that for every letter the newspaper receives, there are probably 10 people out there who feel the same way, but don't write in. She told me to consider this in my own profession---teaching---that for every student who writes me a nice letter, there are more out there who feel the same, and don't write (and I guess there are some who hate my guts, too!).
So I hope that you look at my post in the same way, Rich. I am writing to say "thank you" for working so hard on this site, and please don't give up on it. And I'll bet there are more than 10 people out there who agree, and don't write.
