: : : : Has anyone seen this movie? It's billed at the final chapter of LOTM. I must admit, I'd never heard of it 'til today. What where your impressions of it?

: : : : Thanks,
: : : : Marc

: : : The Pathfinder, in Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales, IS the sequel, so to speak, to LOTM. See the link below for some interesting passages written for this site by one who used to frequent this forest.

: : : As for the movie ... I dunno! Are you speaking of a NEW movie????? Or, am I gettin' excited over nuthin'?

: : I ran across a VHS tape on eBay. Here's what the ad states:

: : "Starring in this movie are Kevin Dillon, Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves), Jaimz Woolvett, Laurie Holden, Russell Means (Last of the Mohicans), Stacy Keach and Stephen Russell, to name just a few.
: : Synopsis: Deep in the war-torn colonial wilderness, during the French and Indian Wars, the legendary woodsman known as the Pathfinder along with his adoptive Indian father Chingachgook and the beautiful Mabel Dunham, becomes involved in an attempt to rescue a besieged British fort. Adapted from the 1840 novel by James Fenimore Cooper, one of the author's "Leatherstocking Tales." A rousing tale of early American adventure, romance and treachery from the author of the final chapter of "The Last of the Mohicans." Anyone interested in black powder, muzzleloader, or living history presentations will surely enjoy this action movie. 104 minutes/technicolor 1994 PG13."

: : I thought it sounded interesting. Have you heard of this version?

: : Marc

: Heard OF ... yes ... seen or heard ABOUT? ... no.

: I agree, it sounds interesting, and, in fact sounds similar to Gayle's synopsis ... but something suggests to me that it was probably a big, ole ... BOMB!

You may be right. I can't imagine this movie's been around since '94 and people wouldn't have talking about it if it was any good.

But... I just won an eBay auction on a brand new tape of it. For $3.99 plus $2.00 shipping... I hope I can't go wrong. I'll let you know how it is once I receive it.

Marc
