: : : And thank you!! How nice of you to say that! We enjoyed ouselves tremendously last year and cherish the friends we made there. Unfortunately, we will not be able to come this year. There are too many other battles and campaigns this year to allow us the time. It probably is a good thing, too. If there is going to be live shooting, every prize offered would be coming back here to the woods, and it might upset some good folks...we are very, very tough to beat with the tools of our trade. We get deadly serious when it comes to shooting and other survival skills AND we do it almost daily; been trained by the best. Read the Chronicles and you will see! ( There ain't a chicken egg within 150 yards of here safe if I see it! They are great targets!)

: : : I hosted a get-together of the PA, NY, NJ Coalition of Historical Trekkers at my cabin this past weekend. We had 20 men there (ahem!!Pvt. Chauncey was NOT in attendance after blowing on about it a couple of weeks ago, remember??...ahem!! Ol' Chauncey chose a week-long trip to Puerto Rico...and the beach...over a weekend of fun and frolic freezing his ass off in Penn's Woods. Can you imagine???)Anyway, the live firing was awesome and very competitive. Ever see a rotten pineapple explode from a direct hit?? (My leftover Christmas decorations.)
: : : We had them on a 4 hour trek over the beautiful PA mountains, got them involved in a surprise tactical with the Augusta Regiment, fed them until they cried "STOP!!"  Libated them silly, after-dinner impromptu music--banjo and fiddle--jokes, stories and lies, we had 'em all, and in general had a fantastic frolic!  There was a special private longhunter's camp, and all but those of us in the cabin stayed in it. It was situated in a pine grove away from the cabin and well-secluded, as it should be. The natives in attendance were a great asset. Already there is talk for next year's Winter Weekend with even more frolic and fun!

: Sorry I won't be there for you....my greatcoat will miss you, too! What to do if you need it?? Take a blanket, open it up lengthwise, fold the upper third over and wrap it around your shoulders with the open edge of the blanket hanging down your back. This will act like a cape over your shoulders, and you can belt, pin or hold it shut. Now...if you will softly say my name over and over, and coo now and then, you will be nice and toasty warm!! If it gets real chilly or windy, you can pull the cape up over your head like a hood.
