: : How far are you in your clothes and gear?

: : just starting really. waiting for some patterns and i can probably whip up a wrap shirt and leggings in a few hours. the biggest thing will be getting mocs' that fit. i usually walk/hike barefoot and get real picky about what i do put on my feet. my one real purchase was a custom tomahawk from Joe Delaronde :). we'll see how repairs go on the new house this spring before i think about a longrifle (probably a Navy Arms Pennsylvania).

Hi Chris!
Thanks for the plug. Usually if a guy is starting out, really just starting out with no experience in longrifles or reenacting, I recommend he get one of the lesser costing good plain rifles unless he is pretty well off financially. Or go to Track like I suggested and get a used one. Or check out one of the shows like Dixon's or NMLRA at Friendship. I also usually discourage him/her from getting one of the bogus Navy Arms or Pedersoli longrifles as they look bogus and often shoot for crap - poor locks, poor sparking, poor setup. A good, plain, well made "poorboy" with Siler/chambers lock and touch hole liner can be had for maybe $700 or so from a number of vendors. A lot of folks have gotten discouraged trying to shoot flint with the cheap repros and lost interest. A well set up rifle with a good lock will fire quickly and nearly every time (weather providing).

Thanks for the plug Chris.

Bill R
