So, Marc, are you saying that I should resist the temptation to do a guide book & web site on this film?

: I was finally able to find some time to watch this movie over the past weekend. I'll keep my comments short as there really isn't much worth mentioning. Keep in mind this is only my opinion, and we know how those go.

: First, let's rate this movie on a scale of 1 to 10 (LOTM getting at least an 11... of course). I'd give it...mmmmm... about a 2 (and that's pretty generous).

: Every aspect needed in making a fine movie was severely lacking. I swear... the actors they selected to play the role of the indians were ridiculous. The lead indian, "Wolf" looked more like a Gene Simmons (member of the rock band "Kiss") wanna be. His make up stunk, he had your typical "couch potato" body, he had the same tan Bill Gates had in the late 1970's and oh yeah... he didn't have anymore acting potential than Pamela Anderson. The rest of the indians followed suit.

: The other actors/actresses weren't much better. The only character I warmed up to was the young Lt. He seemed sincere and even tried to do a good job. Russell Means simply stunk! His attempt at looking scared at the end of the movie was an embarassing effort. Plus, considering his stance on Indian Affairs, I'm surprised he'd agree to do a movie that obviously wasn't going to represent anyone realistically.

: My only consolation in the purchase of this movie is that I got it off of eBay for a very low bid amount. One dollar more and I would have felt taken.

: As you can tell, I was less than impressed with this movie. If you happen to catch an airing on TV, fine... but knowing what I know now... I wouldn't waste any money on purchasing this tape.

: Oh... I almost forgot... there were a couple moments in the movie that reminded me of LOTM. In keeping with the bus scene during the surrender of the fort... there was a scene in "The Pathfinder" where you could see and expansion bridge in the background (a couple of times no less). A fairly large bridge too!

: I can't help but think that if Michael Mann had got his hands on this script, it could have been a rival to LOTM. The story has great potential and there's no doubt could be an awesome movie if someone with talent directed it. Oh well... opportunities missed...

: Marc
