: I am trying to obtain info on how Europeanized/Native the Stockbridge warriors serving with Rogers Rangers were?I in an attempt to try and pout together a living history portrayal) Did they keep many of the traditonal trappings? (scalplocks, paint, piercings, leggings, breech clouts?) Just want to get something definate from somewhere. The stuff I have looked at hasn't provided me with anything concrete. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it...Peace

While re-reading some previous Posts, I came upon this one and noticed no one had responded to you, John. I do not know how I missed it! (Sure glad it wasn't a Delaware or a Shawnee! Humph...must be old age and bad eyes creeping in on me....) So please forgive me for the very late answer to your querie.

John, you need to check with the LOTM Board's Resident Ranger Expert, Pvt. Chauncey Goodrich. Simply find a Post from him and click on his highlighted name. That will give you an email form and you can go right to him.

Pvt. Chauncey, who has been a contributing member of this Board for 4 or more years, should be able to answer any questions you might have. The lad is a great friend of mine as well as of many people on this Board and has become extremely well-known for his study on the F&I War, in general, and Rogers' Rangers, in particular. I happen to know, for a fact, that he reads the literature and books in-depth to learn personally and that if Chauncey can't answer the question, there are plenty of book resources out there. All one needs to do is search them out!

I will also direct you to this link:

http://reenacting.net/history/loudenjan58.gif

for specific orders on how the Stockbridge were to dress in the Ranger Companies.

Happy hunting, and have fun!

Pax aye!

Seamus
