: : I give credit to the people who go out and find these actors. I would like to know how, when and where they get their information relating to actors and how they pick them for certain movies. I think "Last of the Mohican" is a great movie and I too am an "ERIC SCHWEIG" fan. I would like to see more of him and also in a starring role. He was not very well known until this movie. Does anyone know how he was found, interviewed, etc. Thanks. I will continue to view this site.

: Karen,

: Interesting note; the role of Chingachgook was auditioned for by both Russell Means & Dennis Banks. As we know, Means landed the biggie while Banks portrayed Ongewasgone. (Uncle Wiscone to his Mohicanland friends!)

Elaine,
I find it interesting that Russell Means was cast at all -- I admit I haven't read the information about him since June and the HUNDREDS of MohicanPress web pages have crowded out much of the details -- but wasn't this his first movie? I understand he has a history of activitism, which is a good thing, but I've been told he comes across in his biography as a man who carries a lot of old anger through his life. If this is true, then he is a consumate actor because he was so "un-angry" (except of course in his revenge for his son's death, but even that was not really "angry", if you know what I mean).

Anyway, I find Russell Means perfect in that role and applaud the casting in that quarter.

BTW, Dennis Banks played the head of that obscure Indian tribe, the Ascone! :>)

Cheers,
Sarah
