Also, have you noticed that while she seems pretty naive and innocent, Hetty doesn't really seem all that feeble minded. At least not at this point in the book. Maybe not a scholar, by any means, but they act like she's a blithering idiot, and they are real sure they remind her of it at every turn, lest she be tempted to forget herself and do something clever.

Sometimes, she seemed smarter than any of them.

Why the next in the series, of course...which I believe is The Last of the Mohicans. I'm for sticking it out until I've read 'em all. Maybe I'll get used to the jabbering yet. ;o)

I'll start, but give me some time. Like you, I have a specific and limited time set aside for reading. By the way, I ordered the rest of series. Amazon .com has the soft cover for $6.36.
