Champ and Marcia,
I totally agree with you. I am proud of and interested in my heritage. I enjoy it when other people are interested in their heritage and share information - doesn't matter if they are American Indian, Celtic, African, German, French, Dutch, Turkish, Greek or whatever. But, I want to speak the truth - not some fantasy designed to make my people into something that I think looks good or proves a point.
If there was a war going on, I'd rather my ancestors were out swinging war clubs or shooting carbines on whatever side they believed in rather than sitting at home cracking nuts.
I like the warts and the farmers, privates, serfs, peasants, warriors. Whatever your heritage, learn the truth and be proud.
