: Hey all! Until now I've been a just an observer of the posts here, figuring as I had no clue what the heck was going on, I'd do better to just watch for a while! Well, I'm breaking my silence to introduce myself as another devoted fan of LOTM and a history buff, particularly Revolutionary War era and Colonial times..Also, I have a question that probably seems down right stupid to all you veterans of this page, but I just have to ask. What exactly is "The Courier"? I noticed the various posts here from Simon Girty and the like but I couldn't get the gist of what's going on..

Hi Mark --

Glad you finally introduced yourself. I've been a silent one myself lately, but I'm a regular here -- LOVE this site so much. I'm sure Elaine, who is much more familiar with The Courier, will respond, but I'll give you my thoughts, since I'm here.

The Courier is "the local news" for the fictitious "Mohicanland". It is really another way we have fun here. In the lingo of internets and intranets and extranets, "Mohicanland" (as mentioned in various places on the site) is not real but is a virtual community of people with a virtual place they come to, to spend time with people of similar interests. Meanewhile, you may have noticed the various funny names of people who post here, including Simon Girty, the Towne Cryer, Pilrim Penny, the various Traders (Dutch, French, English, Otto Mani, etc.), and of course She-Who-Tracks-Le-Longue-Carabine. These are all members of the board posting under other names/personalities, playing off the serious side and having fun with the LOTM theme. The Courier, then, is a fun retelling of real and virtual events in "Mohicanland", usually concerning these fictitious characters and alter egos.

Having said that, though, Simon Girty came on board while I was off following other pursuits for a short while, so Simon could be a real person for all I know!

You might find The Courier confusing, but I'm sure you'll get the gist of it, and I hope you have fun with it. And I hope you'll stick around and have some fun! And of course, serious stuff is also good.

Cheers,
Sarah
