Gayle --- you hit the nail on the head!

As one who has reenacted a great many years [mainly] as a Confederate cavalryman, this is something I run into time & time again. We tell people, you may or maynot agree with past events, but take yourself out of your 20th century mold, & try to think & understand in the 19th century.

When you try to judge ANY time period by your current standards [which in this PC time changes all to frequently] then the past always seems to come up short [or so it seems to others ;-) ]....

Just my 2 1/2 cents worth...
