Hi, Rich...I don't know who brought this to your attention, but I have to say that I think they were totally mistaken. I'm sorry, whoever you are, but if you have been around this board very long & don't know how Rich feels about Eric Schweig, then you haven't been reading very closely.

Rich, I don't think you should have to apologize or justify your comments at all. At no time did they sound disrespectful or insensitive to me. Just so you know, I agree completely with the remarks Janis made about that particular interview. I cringe every time I read it. I also agree with your assessment as to the probable reason for the tone of it. It rambles to the point of being incomprehensible at times, and frankly sounds to me as if Eric was not sober when giving it.

Why is this perception considered a putdown when Eric himself admits that he spent his days at that period of his life drunk? It is simply a statement of fact, isn't it? I think you made it clear that Eric has a different approach to life now that he is tackling his substance abuse problems, and you've shown, via your more recent interview with him, that he is a more interesting & vital person as a result.

Rather than worry about whether or not it is "insensitive" to say Eric may have been drunk during a 1992 interview, his fans could focus on the fact that he is working on this issue and hopefully making progress. You made it clear that you like the guy, you've devoted a good portion of this site to his works of art, and obviously wish him the best. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain offbase.
