My Dear Katie of Arboath,

You are most welcome, dear lady! We are all looking forward to meeting you, as well...and to being given the grand tour of your quilting establishment. I am sure it will be a BIG success here in Mohicanland, where the winters are long & cold!

: I must also extend my thanks for the kind invite to tea in your side garden on Saturday! The menu sounds simply scrumptuous!

Miss Marcia aims to please, doncha know!

:However, I do have one little reservation! What are 'turnip greens primavera'? No offence intended, Miss, but - turnip greens are the part of the vegetable which 'we' throw out to our hogs!!

Oh, my poor, darlin' lass! Some say that's the way of it...those damn yankees, an' such...but we who are from the warmer climes to the south know that the greens are the very best part of the turnip, and indeed, of many of the root vegetables. You simply MUST try these fresh spring greens, served lightly braised and seasoned with some lovely bits of hog jowl for a nice smokey flavor! Ummmm-ummmm, good!

:However, cucumber and watercress sandwiches sound mighty tempting (I was so sorry to hear of Miss Cora's most unfortunate accident! And I do hope she remembered to wash her hands afterwards!!)

Someday I will have to share with you the story of Capable Cora's amazing adventure in the whirling, foaming, frothing, sloshing, splashing, tinkling river, and Hawkeye's sadly inept attempt to rescue her from that self-same body of water. (It's lurking about in the archives someplace, should you get the urge to check it out sooner.)

:and I can hardly wait for the Fu -uuudge!! As I write, I am catching the heady aroma drifting on the wind! (Either that or Cameron's cabin is on fire again!!)

It IS tricky to tell the difference at times, to be sure!

: May I enquire as to Dress code, Ma'am? I do hope we are talking 'Sunday-go-to-meeting' outfit and natty chapeau!! That little straw number of mine is just dying for an airing!! Latest style from London, dontcha know!!

Oh, by all means, please do dress in your finest frippery, but as for Natty's chapeau, won't HE be wearing it??? We ladies (and I use the term loosely, you know) of Mohicanland will be all atwitter, waiting to see the London fashions! How exciting!

: Once again, may I say how honoured I am to be the guest at your little Saturday afternoon soiree? I shall trip across to the Downhome Kitchen with great anticipation! And I shall also look forward to it!!

I'm so glad you are looking forward to it, but do try NOT to trip across! No falling down allowed until AFTER we serve gallons and gallons of my Kentucky Colonel Mint Juleps on the verandah!

Yours Most Graciously,
Miss Marcia
Motto: Come tiptoe through the juleps with me!
