My Dear Miss Marcia,
Once again, my thanks for your warm words of welcome! I truly do look forward to showing you round my little (but select!) 'establishment'. Though my shoppe will be the place to come for quilts, I shall also be doing a little sewing and alterations on the side. Just call me a little sew and sew! (Ha,Ha, just my wee joke!).
You have convinced me, Miss! Smoked turnip tops - sounds - delicious (?!?) If that is what you do to turnip tops, one wonders what you do with your Fuu-uuudge! I truly do wonder if that really *was* Cameron's cabin 'smokin'! Fergit smokin'! What you really ought to do is add a generous nip of 'Aunt Emily's Recipe' to the recipe! A shot of Johnny Walker should 'set' the heavenly ambrosia!
As for 'dress', I cannot tell a lie! That stylish chapeau of which I spoke, does not belong to Natty Bumpo at all, but was a little straw number that I found lying on the George Road! The inscription in bore was A.M! However, I have used my considerable millinery skills to turn it into a rather fetching little job, reminiscent of the latest London style! And I would be most pleased to advise all the ladies of Mohicanland on how to get the best out of their heads! 'Get ahead, get a hat!', is what I say!!
Well, Miss Marcia, Mint juleps 'on the lawn' sounds simply divine!! However, 'tiptoe' is not a term I associate with these ole clodhopping boots which we 'settler' ladies are forced to wear!! (stiletto's not yet having caught on here!). However, I would be most happy to 'rampage' through gallons and gallons of your Kentucky Colonel Mint Juleps on Saturday afternoon!!!
In great anticipation,
I remain, your
