Gosh, Old Crone,
All that nuisance for nothin' - well, nearly nothin'. Thought we was gonna get us a solid meal, and it turned out to be nothin' but a skinny ol' turkey rustlin' them bushes. Oh well, a drumstick is a drumstick.

Speakin' of which, did you hear somethin' that sounded like drums startin' up back aways in the woods? Mebbe Indians rovin' about - let's just work the canoe out a little farther into the river here. If we can float on up a bit toward Cherry Valley, I know a tradin' post there that might take some o' these here turkey feathers in trade for some molasses to go with our parched corn.

Careful, there - doggone, there's another one o' them little bees asettin' on the edge of the canoe. Now we got two o' the little buggers to watch out for.
