Ok, ok ... NO arguing!

: Hi. The Eric Schweig controversey baffles the bejongus out of me, and my first question may raise some hackles, but.....Thinking back to the accusations from the Indian Arts Council or some such agency , is Eric ever harassed for marketing his masks through a non-Indian organization?

Not that we are aware of.

: My second question is: does anyone know of an indigenous group called Copacco or Kopako (or a similar spelling) that lived in what is now New England? I heard that name when I first moved to Connecticut, and I could swear there is a brief reference to it in the movie "Squanto," but I can't find any information. Any help out there?

This may not be the definitive answer, but a quick search turns up nothing on a tribe with the name you provide (sources: The New England Frontier: Puritans & Indians, 1620-1675 [Alden T. Vaughan] & The Indian Tribes of North America [John R. Swanton]). The main tribes of Connecticut would be: Unkawas, Ponus, Wascussup, Paugussetts, Wepawaugs, Quinnipacs, Hammonassetts, Niantic, Mohegans or Pequots, Nipmunks or Nipnets, Podunks, Poquonnocs, Sicaoggs, Wangums or Wangunks, Tunxis, Wappingers, & Mahicans or Mohicans (source: The Indian In Connecticut [Chandler Whipple]).
