Hi Gayle,

now this goes back to what I had in mind when I posted originally: The world of 200 years ago and today, I wonder how much has actually changed. Specifically, I often wonder if the inclination to use violence when outraged has changed in any way. In former centuries, people observed much violence in their daily lives, just like they observed much misery first hand, and I wonder if that didn't have the same effect on them as our TV/movie environment has on SOME people today: A loss of sensibility. And maybe in the decades in between, where the personal exposure of people to violence has gone down and before their exposure via visual means has risen that much, those sensibilities may have been stronger. Not sure of course, this is just a thought that sometimes crosses my mind.

Regards,
Petra
