: : Greetings fellow Mohicanites!

: : I write to let you know that I have become privy to a bit of information that may surpise, nay *shock* you!! Michael Mann has been holding out on us!! I have gotten hold of something pertaining to a scene which I assume went the way of many another intriguing scene - the cutting room floor!!

: : The scene was set - Hawkeye and Cora, sharing smouldering glances across the infirmary, while all around them, the wounded groaned in pain. Suddenly, Dougie MacLean's fiddle set toes tapping - and the dance began. Hawkeye and Cora drew towards one another, Hawkeye firmly grasped Cora's hand, they moved off and while 'The Kiss' played, they embraced and -- Ha! You think they indulged in a little bit of 'pash' -- well, you'd be wrong!! In actual fact, they went looking for the Loch Ness Monster!! I know what you're thinking! Kate's a breed apart and makes no sense! Oh yes I do!! And I have the proof!!

: : I know it sounds far fetched but, as I said, I *have* the proof!! Is there a 'Loch Ness Monster' in Lake George? Well, *many* of the colonials were Scots peasants thrown off their land and put on ships bound for the New World, by the Duke and Duchess of Sutherland, during the Highland Clearances. So, perhaps, an antecedent of the present incumbent of Loch Ness also became disallusioned with life in the Highlands at that time and decided to strike out for a better life in the Carolina's! Who's to say? - However, it seems Michael Mann thinks it is possible!!

: Yours in anticipation of seeing the *real* version,
: Kate.

: Kate,
: You may be on to something, especially since that selfsame music for "The Gael", which you suggest was played at the moment our hero and heroine went off to search for the Loch Ness Monster, was in fact written by Dougie Maclean FOR the Loch Ness Monster, on a CD entitled The Search. The CD says the music was commissioned for the Official Loch Ness Monster Exhibition in 1988. If your theory is correct (and here is further proof), then Mann was blessed in that either the soundtrack for the scened already existed or that the music for the Loch Ness Monster inspired him to create such a scene. What then inspired what -- the chicken or the egg (well, supposedly Nessie doesn't lay eggs, so maybe that's the wrong metaphore).

: Yours from Pangea,
: Sarah

>Exactly! That *is* indeed my proof!! My copy of *The Search*! It's pretty hard to dispute the theory, when you hear the music, ain't it?!! So, who's to say that Hawkeye and Cora do not enter *the search*, in 'LOTM - Part II'?? As they say, 'stranger things have happened' (and stranger films have been made!).

Thank you for your support, Sarah!
Best wishes, Kate.

PS. - please could you humour an ignorant Scot? Where is 'Pangea'?
