As this is a busy Memorial Day weekend, with in our case, a Graduation Ceremony & Celebration, the Site had only very minor updates this week. Yes, that means nothing new from Wes Studi. We will try to get that completed before The Gathering Weekend ...
The weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS around here! We can only hope it will even remotely resemble this 2 weekends from now!
Most everyone, I know, have made their reservations for The Gathering by now ... here are some figures and recommendations for those who haven't:
* We expect 55 people at this point, at least 6 of whom will miss Friday's Linville Gorge exploration, as they will be arriving later that day.
* 15 people are staying at The Bunkhouse. Another large congregation is assembling at The Chimney Rock Inn.
* We've sold 51 movie theatre tickets. One person is not going to attend the film. 3 others we haven't heard from yet.
* 6 people are attending who did not purchase a CRP package.
* We still have a ways to go with the Mask raffle, and so, have extended the deadline one week.
So, by far, most people will be staying in Chimney Rock village. The advantages? Commraderie & proximity to Sunday's activities. I believe a few will be in Asheville, not a bad choice, as it is much more centrally located to all 3 days' activities. If you haven't yet reserved lodging, either of those two locations are good. A couple of more suggestions: Hendersonville puts you near Saturday's locations (see The Gathering Page for 2 suggested lodging places there). Our town, Marion ... I've always considered it THE center of MohicanLand, smack dab in the middle. Staying here won't put you right next to ANY of the 3 days' activities, but it will put you not TOO far from any of them.
Oh, Elaine's "baby sister," Rose ... she's a wonderful young lady who will be attending at least parts of The Gathering ... more than just a younger sibling, Rose LOVES the MOVIE, and was intensely interested in my locations search years ago. Welcome aboard, Rose!
